LINDA BOOKER - Child & Youth Worker, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board

At Iona Catholic Secondary School, we held our annual grade 9 Girls Night In again in September. I was so excited to have Talli as our keynote speaker, because i just knew that the message she gave when she speaks to teen girls, was one that would leave them feeling inspired, respected, valued with reflective thoughts on how we treat others when we are feeling insecure, jealous or competitive.  Sure enough ..... When I looked around the room as the girls listened attentively to her, i witnessed the quietness, the thoughtfulness, as they related what she was sharing to themselves.

When Talli finished speaking, the long line of girls waiting to have their photo taken with her, or have their shirts signed by her, was truly evidence of their positive experience.  I overheard many say things like ....  " Wow ... what Talli said really made me think ....  " , "I really want to be a more positive & appreciative person ...."

Talli, having you here joining us for our celebration of what it means to be a girl, was a rewarding & meaningful experience!!  Thanks so much for joining us!!  Same time next year???  Hope so!!!
